Every document a simple cremation touches at Kearney — first call to urn pickup — placed in the order the case actually needs it, and validated form-by-form against the August 28 funeral-director session.

Why the order matters

Cremation is irreversible, so the sequence is a dependency chain.

A direct cremation skips embalming and visitation, but it cannot skip authority. Legal right to authorize disposition must be established before anyone signs the cremation authorization; the disposition permit must exist before the crematorium request schedules the burn. The phases below are not a filing convention — each one unlocks the next.

Burial cases use the same list minus the cremation-specific forms, plus a burial/interment permit — and the disposition authorization is the same shared form across both. That shared form is exactly why two-person ID verification is the load-bearing safeguard.

First Call & Intake

The moment death is reported · everything downstream references this

What Aug 28 didn't settle.

One form, or two moments?

The Cremated Remains Release (18/22) is confirmed real and distinct — but whether it's one document signed twice or two functionally separate steps is unresolved.

The ID-verification artifact

Is two-person ID verification a logged event, a checkbox on an existing form, or its own signed document? And exactly where in the sequence?

Effects, re-touched?

Whether the Personal Effects Inventory is revisited if family later provides clothing or jewelry for the urn, given the internal-copy + Megan's-copy split.

A keepsakes form?

Aug 28 leaned toward free-text write-in for non-GPL keepsakes rather than a maintained list — so a discrete keepsakes form may never materialize.
